"What exactly is life mapping?" I hear you ask. Well, I suppose you could call it strategically managing your life by setting a destination and logging your route. After all, you wouldn't set off on a big trip with no idea of the roads you were going to use, or some idea of the length of time you were going to be travelling. Without thinking and planning in advance the trip could be costly to you in both terms of finances (petrol, tickets etc) and time (wasting valuable time on missed connections).
Sitting down and planning at least a rough idea of where you are heading can help you with the motivation to succeed in actually living the life you wish for yourself.
Sitting down, visualising and planning will help you achieve your life goals more easily than just planning.
However, sitting down and actually mapping where you want your life to go, thinking and visualising about exactly what you want to achieve and then setting goals and deadlines will allow you to create your own destiny. An often quoted point in life coaching is this, ' a dream is just a dream, but a goal is a dream with a plan and a deadline', this quote allows you to see the immense possibilities for getting what you want. The difficult part is keeping on wanting what you get.
I understand that cynics will say that our lives are in the hands of fate. Whilst this may or may not be true, surely it is better to believe that you do control your own life and deal with the hand that fate plays you rather than just accepting what comes your way. Luck and chance are there for everyone, unfortunately some people miss out on these simply because they were not aware of them. How many times have you heard someone say ''I was just in the right place at the right time'' or '' it's not what you know but who you know'' it could be added though, that the people who get these lucky breaks are generally the type of people who are dynamic and have many different circles (networks) of friends and acquaintances.
